Coffee Cup Recycle Station

Over the years Queensland Garden Expo has always aimed to be responsive to changing trends in gardening and environmental issues. As an event we have introduced a series of ways we reduce waste to landfill, and one of the most significant of these is recycling cardboard. This year all food outlets will again be asked to consider packaging and will be provided with bins for food scraps that can be used for worm farms, chooks or compost.

In 2017 we also plan to continue to promote upcycling and the idea that many common items can be repurposed, and to involve our visitors in this project we will be running the 'Repurpose Your Coffee Cup' refill station each day. It’s so easy, buy a coffee at the Expo, bring your takeaway cup to the refill station and have it filled with potting mix and a small plant.

We hope this project gets our visitors thinking about ways they can recycle used objects in their own homes.

Visit the Coffee Cup Refill Station on the oval during these hours:

Friday 11am – 3pm
Saturday 10am – 4pm
Sunday 10am – 3pm
