History

The Sunshine Coast Branch of the Nursery & Garden Industry held the inaugural Expo 27 years ago, with the aim of providing the general public with expert advice and information on a range of gardening subjects in an enjoyable and accessible format.

This first event, in 1984, was a one day event with 30 exhibitors, 300 visitors, 5 workshops and a Plant Clinic. Guided by a dedicated group of volunteers the event quickly grew over the ensuing years to become the 3 day event it is today.

2011 Garden Expo

In 2011 the Expo attracted over 30,000 visitors from across Queensland and interstate. A record 360 exhibitors, including nearly 60 nurseries presented a huge range of plants and the latest innovations in gardening products.

Gardening is always rated in the top 3 or 4 most favoured recreational activities and the fact that the Expo continues to grow in size and visitor numbers indicates that it is still as relevant now as it was 27 years ago.
